haleybreen: edit: so this photo has been stolen more than any of my others and I’d like to say that yes, yes it is mine. as in I took it. is a photo of my friend (qwertzponies, actually) and her horse at a show a few years ago. so if you see any other sources, is been stolen. summer ‘11

haleybreen: okay, so my mommy took this one. I couldn’t resist - it hasn’t snowed all winter so I made her take some pictures. good thing, too, because the snow was slush by the end of the day! me & my boy, winter ‘12 now, enjoy my sexy long johns and the outfit I’ve literally worn to do stalls three days in a row.

so the horse here is Zephyr he’s an old school horse at my barn - bred, born and raised there.  he was a show horse until he was diagnosed with navicular in his front feet, after which he lived happily as a flat horse and lesson horse for years. he was comfortable and sassy for a long time - seriously I rode him this past winter and he did little sassy Zephyr bucks, it was adorable - but he’s old and tired and hurting; the navicular is catching up to him. Its progressed to the point where he can barely walk; he’s loaded up on bute right now, but he’s being put down tomorrow morning. the woman in the photo was giving him a last bath; she’s an older woman at our barn who’s always looked out for him and she groomed him and loved on him for the last time today and it sucked. school horses. seriously, the best animals. baby zephyr, you’re a good boy. summer ‘12
